Do most flocks have some chickens with some bare spots?

I was curious if most flocks have chickens that are missing feathers due to pecking order issues? My vet told me that it is normal. I dont like it when birds have feathers missing. Is he right??

Yep, normally low-ranking hens will be missing a few feathers off of their backs. However if you have a rooster, they may be losing their whole back from the 'action', in that case, try a hen apron.
