Hi, I just performed "chicken doctor" on my chickens. They all show signs of little bumps and crust on their legs, but they all have the same thing, and they've looked like this for all of the time I've seen their legs.
So do they have scaly leg mite? And how do I treat it?

It's a bit interesting that the raised scales start fairly high up on the legs. Either way, it will not hurt one bit to treat as SLM. If there's a lot of debris under the scales, then give the legs a good soak, wash, then pat dry. Apply oil of your choice to the legs (castor oil, coconut oil, vaseline, A+D ointment, etc.) - make sure to work the oil into and under the scales. Oil will smother SLM. Repeat application of oil a couple of times a week.
