I am over run with chicks and different ages..trying to figure which box, which brooder..etc

Then the whole..putting together and having them bond or not

Okay long story short..
Placed 3 / 3 week olds with 2 day olds..all was great..they snuggled, the little ones even perked up more and copied what the older ones did..

Well, maybe from those of u that are experienced with raising chicks..as iam an idiot and still learning u know what iam about to share

This morning I wake up to

Iam so mad at myself..................soooooo mad at myself..why oh why did I like an idiot put them all together

Looks like it got smashed because last night it must have been on the bottom of the pile etc

Errrrrrrrrrrr

So I find another box, and throw the larger ones in that and never ever again will I mix .....age groups like that

Iam sharing this story so others will incase your in my shoes..learn..why you shouldn't mix sizes ..yes, they can get along great but
If little little ones get piled on and stuck......they may not survive

I'm so sorry to hear about your poor little chick.

And this is exactly why I told my husband we had to set up a fourth brooder for when our replacement chicks arrive on Tuesday. Poor chickie.

Wow. I would have done the same thing. If they all got along during the day, I would have thought that it was all good. Thanks for posting this. Sorry about your loss.

I am soooo sorry!! I have another order coming next weds so I will need to make a separate area for them. I will have ages from 1 day - 3 weeks.

My hubby is complaining about the smell from them too, I hope he finishes their coop this weekend and I can move the brooder out to the coop, well except my baby bantams... they can stay inside with me
