Occasionally I click on a link, random picture, whatever and get this message. Any ideas why? In this case I had clicked the first random picture.

Then I get this.

At some point in the last year BYC changed things on the back end with hosting. Many old photos are no longer available to view. Also if the photos were hosted on a third party site and the poster no longer has an account on said site they may no longer be available.

If it's a relatively new post/thread there may be a deeper problem. So far I've only come across this with things a few years old.

We have no control over third pary image hosting sites, that is why we reccomend uploading images as attachments. No images that were uploaded as attachments should be gone. The images in the random images slider are only ones that have been uploaded as attachments. My guess is that the no permission error was probably due to the thread that the image was posted in being deleted, but the OP never provided a link to thr thread, so there is no way to know for sure.

Hello,

I'm receiving this same error message when attempting to add media to the gallery. I'm a new member, but have filled out my profile to an extent that should allow me to upload photos / articles. Any help?

Are you trying to upload a photo to an album or create an article?

Also...were you trying to upload the photos before you posted your first post (this one) right? Have you tried again since posting your first post?
