I have a lovely banty roo with a mighty crow who is about a year. One side of his breast is puffed up from the inside, as the area is not moveable, mushy, painful to palpitation, inflamed, but feels muscular in nature. What could this be? My sense is that it is not new. It doesn't seem to have an impact on his life style.

yup, from whatthe thread described, sounds like the crop since I notice it mid afternoon and he is the first at the food bowl in the AM. I probably offer too much, but I figure a little body fat isn't too bad since it iso dam cold these days. They will free range once things warm up and the snacks will dry up. (today they had pasta, meat scraps and a little cat food and their Layena:th...)

Noted this morning that the area is down, though they had been eating as they have free choice. The roo's lady friend also has the same things, but they are both at the trough before anyone else. thanks for the info.
