I am planning on getting some goslings in a couple weeks. They will be sexed and I wondered if I could get a Gander and three geese or if the gander would only mate with one of the girls?
Thanks
Melissa

Toulouse geese will be fine for the first couple of years and seem alright with more then two girls, but after around 3-4 years they will chose their favorites and stick with 1 or 2 females. Good luck with your geese.

I'm reviving/redirecting this old thread rather than make a new one. We have a mature pair of Toulouse geese, and this year we provided them with 10 african goslings to rear. I am wondering if the old pair will mate exclusively with each other in future years, or will I need to separate the two breeds during breeding season.

I know that the old pair of toulouse are fertile (I hatched 10 eggs out of them using an incubator) but the goose has been unsuccessful hatching eggs on her own. The pair great parents to the African goslings... she's just no good at incubating, I guess.

I'm hoping that they will choose to mate exclusively with each other in the future so that I do not have crossbred babies.

Also, when will the young ones start pairing up, and will it be easy to pick out who is paired with who? (so that I don't separate partners if I put them in multiple pastures)

Advice? Thanks.
