Meet Oreo and Dilly, now 7 weeks old . I am really hoping that they are both girls???????????
I would like to ask you advice to : should I now remove Katie the frizzle chicken that hatched them? as she is now laying again and is eatting growers pellets not layers??
or would it be possible that Oreo and Dilly could be introduced to my little flock, consisting of 2 white silkies, 1 pekin bantam and another frizzle. But then I ask myself will they pick on them? and then they will be eatting Layers pellets not growers? gosh so many questions and not sure what to do. Can anyone give me some advice please.
thank you so much, Laura x

If I were you, I'd switch everyone to grower and offer free choice oyster shell. My entire flock eats it, and I have hens as old as 2 and chicks as young as 5 weeks. The broodies should introduce their chicks at a week old or something to the flock. Mine were introduced at 2 weeks old, and they are now 5 weeks and are sleeping on the roosts with everyone else.

As for gender, I am not going to guess based on those pictures. Polish are extremely tricky. Usually slicked back crests indicates boy, but I have a girl that has that same look.. With my Houdans, I was able to tell at 2 weeks old based on just the look of his face.. He looked like a boy. Maybe I'm crazy, but it worked. I have a pair of Houdans that are now 10 weeks old.

Hope this helps.. Though I know you want to know what they are for sure. Did you buy them as pullets?

Hi,
Thank you for your advice. Great help.
Feefee , the frizzle was broody, I tried everything to break her, but no good. so I bought 4 silver laced polish bantam eggs, 3 hatched but one sadly died.
At the minute I have a run with the 2 chicks and Feefee and a run next to them with the 2 silkies , 1 pekin and another frizzle. so they do communicate through the wire. Do you think they would all live happy together? or should I keep the polish seperate?
many thanks Laura x
