Do we think this is intestinal shed or blood?

Have an isolated silkie due to lethargy and a small prolapse that seems to have resolved itself. It’s hard to separate her stool from the wood chips but she managed to do this one off the chips and it’s got some orange bits in, and I can’t decide which these are. I was going to do a round of Corid on everyone, but they’re part silkie (part EE) and I wasn’t sure if a thiamine blocker was harder on them.

I gave one dose in their water today just in case but she’s acting perky and eating and drinking now, so I’m not sure if it’s worth treating what may not be there.

Looks like intestinal shedding, but there's quite a bit of mucousy urates in the poop too.
She prolapsed and was lethargic, is she back to her normal self now? Any discharge from the vent at all or crusty material?

If she prolapsed, even if it went back in, it would be a good idea to give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 once daily for a week to help with retention and hopefully keep her from prolapsing again.

If you wish to treat for Coccidiosis, you can use Corid (Amprolium). Dosing is below.

Liquid Corid (Amprolium) dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.

She is back to her normal self now. Her vent looks normal, maybe a small amount of discharge.

I have powdered Corid but wasn’t sure if if I should give it or not, since there isn’t a lot of blood in the stool.

What’s the best way to give calcium citrate, and what form/where should I get it? Should I keep her inside for the week?

If she's back to normal, I'd put her back with her flock and monitor her.

You can find Calcium Citrate+D3 at stores like Walmart, CVS, etc., in the vitamin aisle.
Just open her beak, pop the tablet in and let her swallow.

Should I dose with Corid? I had started with the “moderate”’dose level (3/4 tsp to gallon) yesterday but didn’t re up today as it just didn’t look like cocci.

I may also call my vet and see if they’ll do a parasite panel on a stool sample.

Getting a fecal float is a good idea.

Its up to you if you wish to finish the course of treatment with the Corid.

Well my local vet doesn’t do it, so I may be stuck driving 45 mins to our avian vet.

One of the other girls had a really watery dropping while I was cleaning out the coop - dunno if it was a panic poop or if there is in fact something funny. I guess I need to hop on the phone with our parrot’s vet. Their fecal panels are sooooo expensive though!
