Do wood ducks fly?

You know, those really colorful, beautiful ducks? Do they fly?

Yes, they fly very well as long as they aren't pinioned.

Or have their feathers clipped... Other than that, they fly very well!

Ok thanks! My husband loves our ducks, cayugas and runner, but he's never seen a wood duck. I'm sure he'll want some!

Understand that you will need permits to keep wood ducks as they are a wild species.

That's good to know. Do wood ducks need different feed or different shelter/setup as domestic ducks?

I feed the wood ducks the same as my domestic ducks, but you will need an enclosed pen since they will fly away if they aren't kept in. You can see pictures of my cold frame aviary on my website below...
