I'm considering buying a steam cleaner and it struck me today that this would also be great for those times when I do a real "strip down" thorough cleaning on the coop! I've never used one before and would love input if you have one - what you like and what you don't like. Many thanks!

Are looking for a steam cleaner? or power washer? I used to use a steam cleaner in a shop they were very expensive and this one ran off of kerosene. Power washers are a lot cheaper and you just plug them in, I use them in my coop and basement.

I have a steam cleaner, and it wasn't all that I expected. But, I think the Commercial really hype them up about what they can do. It sure didn't clean my tub the way they said it would.

So, I really haven't used it in a long time.

I have watched the infomercials many times, seeing them blow/melt the grime away. But I've always wondered where the grime and water goes? Don't you have to go back and clean that up?

I have a steam cleaner- but not one of those that they do the infomercial on. Those are not very good

It does nice work, and is very versatile. I steam clean the sofa ( gets rid of doggie smell), carpets ( got rid of baby chick smell), the bird cage, the bathroom, the wood floors, etc.. I've even used it to remove wallpaper.
You do have to wipe after steaming. The steam loosens dirt and gunk pretty well. It sanitizes because of the heat. I initially bought it to clean the parrots cage, as it doesn't use chemicals that might harm them. I've never tried it in the chicken pen.
Honestly, though, because you have to wipe up everything that you steam off- it would probably be to messy in the chicken coop. But then again, so would any other method of thoroughly cleaning the coop. Inside the coop, it would be easier to just spray down with some Oxine or bleach water after cleaning to disinfect.

Thanks guys. No, not a power washer. We have that and use it outside for driveways, etc... I would not use that inside our coop due to the insulation between the wall/outside and linolium on the floor. If any moisture made its way to those areas we would have a mess on our hands. What I was interested in initally was something to help me clean my floors and bathrooms, etc... Then the idea hit me of the coop because of the ability to kill germs/lice/ etc.... I've just started my research however, and realize that the "infomercial" ones won't do the job. Thanks for the input and keep it coming!
