Like the title and poll says… do you lock stuff? I’ve recently learned lots of people don’t and it shocked me 😂🤣🙈

For me, I always lock everything. When I go into a store, I lock the car. When I go to bed for the night, I lock all the doors and windows and double check them all. The only time I don’t usually lock is when the car is in the driveway cause our driveway is really private. But even then, sometimes I do. And if I go to a friend’s or dog sitting or something then I do as well.

IDK, maybe I’m just paranoid or something but I watch far too many crime shows to chance leaving anything open. :lau

Plus it was always drilled into my head by mom.

My dad is the opposite basically. He doesn’t get why I lock the front door or cars or anything and he never locks anything.

We’ve always had big, intimidating sounding dogs too but idk, I just feel safer with it locked I guess. Like maybe if it’s locked they’ll just move on to an easier target.

Curious what you guys do.

Not really. I never lock the truck...just open the door, don't break the window. The house is rarely locked, someone is almost always home. I'm in a very secluded spot tho.

That is a thing, but for me all the other houses/cars would be more appealing targets.
We’re usually always home too but I still lock it. Idk why lol I guess I don’t usually during the day but do at night. And I feel like secluded is where ya need to lock it more cause too much Criminal Minds! 😂🤣🙈

I always lock EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, people are so self centered to steal. My neighbor that rent worn me they saw random teenagers going into MY garage while I was inside of my home. Thankfully nothing was stolen. I live in a very small town of 20k population. My town has problem with stealing packages, even cars.

During October, I didn't knew random teenagers attempting to get into my other neighbor house, by jumping over the gate to the backyard. I guess they actually saw my neighbor inside and ran off. I didn't even new my neighbor was present either. Until my neighbor asked me what was going on. I told her I thought those were her extended family members. I thought she and her "family" were locked out of the house. We had a blackout that day. So no way to get into the garage.

Only the house and only at night (sometimes), and the car ( my car is old enough to be worth more in parts) only if there's something important in it like tools. I don't lock usually, even when I'm gone for a week. Locks are only useful if you prescribe to the idea that nobody's going to be desperate enough to break windows to get in.
I know people who are nutty about locking their security doors, even though they have picture windows and exposed sliding glass doors.
My bedroom is above the downstairs door and next to the upstairs door, I'm going to feel/hear anyone attempting to get to the doors.
We don't have a criminal element in my area, just the same 8 people busted for dui or drugs or something.

Oh wow that’s scary!!!

Though my town’s even smaller 😜🤣

Oh good idea on the only at night thing!! I added that option to the poll! Completely forgot about that hahah

But yeah, I’m sure someone would be desperate enough but I guess I just kinda hope it’s like some kid or something just trying to find easy money so the locks would deter them. Idk.

Although I’m not scared of kids, I’m scared of the serial killers :lau

I have seen a lot of newer houses though that are like entirely glass practically, like entire walls just all windows or doors or whatever, and I could never live like that. I mean, we have a couple glass doors but definitely not entire walls!! Plus it’s really thick glass. Hurts to run into it lol

But besides just the breaking in factor, I would just feel so exposed like where’s the privacy? Like most people here also have zero curtains and you can literally see what they’re watching when you walk by and I could never lol

I live on a forested hill, the only room you can see in from the road is the laundry room. I wouldn't like a glass house either, I'm wierd in my house.

Yeah ours is secluded but most here are right on the main road with huge glass everywhere 😂😭
