Do you recommend clipping wings?

I have 6 chickens on a small city lot and have recently been letting them out to free range a little in my yard. They love it and I love watching them but I'm scared that they may fly into the neighbors yard or into our fenced-in dog yard and get eaten by our Jack Russell. If I clip their wings will they still be able to get up onto a roost or are they then totally confined to the ground? Thanks for any advice.

I had to clip my chickens wings because the WERE flying over the fence into the neighbors dog infested yard. Mine can still fly up to the roost and hatch broods just fine. There is a tutorial on how to do it somewhere one here.

i clip mine and they still can get 2+ feet off the ground. i only had to do it when they were younger though the older/plumper girls cant seem to get very high even with all feathers.
