I hatched two set of chicks - one in early May and one in early June - so the they are now 19 weeks and 14 weeks. We get very severe cold winters here (below zero). I am wondering if you think they will lay this year or just wait until spring? Breeds are Australorp, RIR and EE.

(below zero).
Fahrenheit or Celsius?

I've had pullets start to lay in the fall or winter where it rarely but occasionally got below 0 F. But that was only some of them. I had some wait until the warmer days of spring to start laying. The ones that did start continued to lay throughout the winter.

I don't know if any of them will lay before spring, but there is a possibility.

It is 0 F.

Right now it's only 40-ish at night and 60's in the day time but come November/December, it will get very cold. I live in the mountains at a high elevation.
