We have this sweet hen that was sold to my daughter as pure breed Black copper Marran, purchased through a breeder not hatchery.

She has been laying about 2 weeks. Since her combe got reader and bigger its not as evident but it was black and still has quite a bit of dark on it. Especially close to the beak. Interestingly she is also the first hen I have had with spur buds as well (google told me this is not rare or unusual lol). She also has no copper on her neck and white on her flight feathers.

Wondering your thoughts on what she is
Here are a couple pic of her.

She just started laying, she was hatched early this year. Im trying to recall if it was Feb/march I cant find my book where I jot down all the info on the chickens lol.

Thank you for the input and info. :)

Wait. So your little daughter in the pic bought the chicken herself? I'm assuming you somewhat know your chickens.... so if you were there, didn't you ask the breeder what it really is because in your opinion it doesn't look like a purebred? Whatever the case, I wouldn't be bothered too much if it's pure or not, though it would be awful if your daughter was duped. Anyway, she does seem to lay nice beautiful eggs though.

Sorry Im not sure what you are asking me?
Yes they were sold as BCM, she was in a package of 3 pullets and my daughter saw a blue cross breed cockerel and picked him too LOL. They were quite young and still had not developed adult feathering and coloring. We have had them since march.

Im not mad or angry, I am not an expert in BCM SOP and this young hen has thought me quite a bit and encouraged lots of research and getting SOP book to have on hand.

Shes great we love her. Just was interested in more knowledgeable folks opinions I find I learn a lot on posts like this.
