Not trying to have any chicks but had thought our rooster Spike was not very successful at fertilizing any eggs. Finally learned how to tell and I think he may be successful, what do you think?

Wow he's doing a great job! He's much larger than the ladies and has a hard time hanging on before they get annoyed so I thought he was having no luck! How fun! Thank you!

A rooster does not actually insert himself to mate, but only taps the hens Cloaca. The actual process of a rooster mating is over within seconds.

I did know just about that much but I mean he really looks miles away whenever I'm witness so I wasn't sure!

Most don’t look elegant in the act or even close to the right spot, but it just takes one good shot to get the job done lol
