Hi, I have 3 week old geese and 1 week old ducks. Can I take away the food and water at night or do they still need them?
They are making such a mess I was hoping for at least a little time without having to clean it all up.

I always left water and feed 24/7 at that age..but i dont really know if you have to...i just did.
On another note..i am wondering if my 4 month old geese need feed water at night now...i'm thinking yes..espically in the summer...but man! what a mess!

Thank you for answering. I have heard about them getting dehydrated. I know if they have food, they need to have water so they don't choke.
I thought I read somewhere though that you could take it away at night. Hmmm.

Just answered on your other thread. You can take away food and water and night. We waited till they started to get really messy. Take away before you go to bed and replace in am. They are usually sleeping at night anyway. Just raised 16 duckling like this and all did well. We started this after 1 of our first ducklings got drenched overnight and died. This was with having a heat lamp. Anyway, you should do what you feel is best.

Well the geese were perfectly fine this morning. I got them outside and gave them water and food and there was so much less mess this morning!
I will wait another week or so to try this on the ducks
