The expression, "dog your footsteps" really comes home with my dogs around. We have an Aussie (Polly), Great Pyrenees (Paris) and a black Lab/Great Dane cross (Parker). They instinctively know where I am going and get there first. They follow me every step I make.

Parker and Polly. Yes, I am sitting on the toilet. They are holding me captive.

Polly........pet me, you got nothing better to do.

Parker, the gentleman.........I will turn my head and not look.

oh I don't go anywhere without my dogs. If I'm in the bathroom, then they are either with me or waiting right outside the door. If I walk to the kitchen, they are right behind me. Then back to the living room. To the bedroom. Down to check the laundry. You get the idea. GSDs are the original velcro dog!

LOL!

Mine sound similar to yours... If the see me gathering up clean clothes and it is about the normal time they will both start heading back to the bathroom that I shower in... Mine can wait patiently if they MUST (someplace they can't or should not follow me) but they 'prefer' to hang out if possible.

Guys at work got a laugh today at lunch when I got up and went into the other room to get a soda from the fridge. I left a plate of steak strips sitting there at the table and instead of trying to scarf it all down as soon as I left the room - The dogs both followed me to the fridge.

Thanks DobermanGuy! Polly the Aussie was all friendly with workmen we had in the house last week. I had to leave and one of the workmen went outside to cut a tile and Polly wouldn't let him back in! Snarling, growling, baring her teeth! When I got back, all was OK and he could pet her again. Polly is my shadow, sleeps on the floor on my side of the bed and won't get up until I do, be it 5 AM or 9 AM (rarely sleep late). Parker is 1 year old and still a big doofus.

Not sure if Parker just had a bath or if he is just VERY healthy but he looks CLEAN! That guy has that shiny sort of coat that most dogs just wish they could have... Guessing you already know how black dogs show dander or dirt so easily... They don't look as good as Parker unless they just had a good cleaning or are super heathy (or both). Whatever you are doing - you must be doing it right!

Wow, Thanks for the compliment. My back yard is a sand pit with Parker and Paris (GP) running around in it. Parker comes in and lays on the den floor and leaves enough dirt to grow tomato plants in.

He gets his dog food, meat scraps, table scraps, heck he even eats tomatoes! After watching my arm disappear up to the elbow in his eager alligator mouth, he had to learn "wait" then gently, "take it". Now my 89 year old Mom feeds him from the dinner table and giggles. (Who IS this woman??) He is a joy.
