hi
I have a white chinese goose that has lived in my yard for years. last year she developed a growth under her bill; an exotic veterinarian found cancerous cells. since then the growth has gotten larger, but my goose (her name is Duck Duck) has been doing quite well. I brought her into the house for the winter because the vet says she is elderly and i did not think she would survive the cold. Over the last month or so, the area around here eyes has changed. I don't want to put her through the trauma of another vet visit if this is just a sign of age, or if it is not something treatable. i would appreciate if anyone can comment on these photos.

Looks like she is missing some feathers around the eyes is that what your talking about more skin showing? her eyes themselves look clear. She does look elderly but healthy.
Sounds like she is being well cared for.

yes, the missing feathers. is that normal for her age, or could something be wrong?

I have a gander who will be 11 this month so far he isn't missing feathers around his eyes so if it's normal I really don't know. Only other thing I can think of is mites but on a white goose they would show up pretty good so doubt that is the problem.

Do you think she is older than 11 yrs?
