Hi everyone, I want to enlarge my phoenix numbers (I only have 5 cocks, and one hen). I'm wondering if any one has any eggs, chicks, or adults for sale. I live in Utah, and enjoy breeding rare and exotic birds!!!

Also, i'm still new to long tails. If anyone could give me some info I would really appreciate that.

Thanks for viewing my post!!!

Boggy Bottom Bantams has a few bantam phoenix and he can probably sell you some eggs and maybe even chicks. Right now I have two Red Pyle Phoenix roosters from Astin lines and 3 pullets from Aubrey ( Boggy Bottom Bantams) and I am getting lots of eggs shipped to me monday from Toni Marie Astin as well, should be several colors so if you want to check back with us next year, Aubrey and I should have lots of bantam phoenix in several different colors to sale.

With longtail breeds, the main thing you have to do if you want them to actually get long tails is keep them in a high and clean pen, so their tails don't get muddy and break off. Also if you have several birds in the pen with them, the could step on their tails and break them. And some protein boosters would be good too.

EDIT I guess you already knew that, I went to your site and you pretty much said the same thing. Very nice birds by the way.

Check out this Phoenix thread that I started and you can see mine and Aubreys birds as well as several others, and I would love for you to take some pics of yours and post them if you will. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=273550

Do you know if the big hatcheries such as, Murray Mcmurray/Cackle/Ideal Poultry sell true phoenixes?

I don't know, I wouldn't count on it. I think I saw somewhere where TommyVT05 said that Cackles birds were from his stock, and he has Onagadori desendants, though there are no true Onags here in the US. And There is another person on here who posted some pics of a really nice White Yokohama roo from Cackle, he had a nice long tail and all, but he kept him in a raised wire bottom cage too like I mentioned earlier. And my standard breeds that I have gotten from Cackle were desent quality so if I were going to get more hatchery birds, I would probably get them from Cackle if I was going for quality, but since I don't ever plan to buy hatchery birds anymore unless I need colors for projects, then I would go with Ideal, just becuase they have lots of colors that other hatcheries don't have.

But with phoenix, just get them from a breeder, you should be far better off.
