Does anyone feed oats?

I was wanting to feed oats to my girls, but was wondering if you use rolled oats or another type of oat.

It's great as scratch feed for treats, and shouldn't hurt them any, go for it!

One of the girls favorite treat is a mixture of rolled oats and sour cream. They are like steam shovels eating it, I think I just feed it to them because it is hysterical to watch. By the time they finish everyone has sour cream all over their backs!!

I feed mine soured Race Horse Oats which is a premium whole oat. It's great for feather growth and really puts a shine on them. The fermentation that takes place will add probiotics and increases the protein to about 18%. The birds love them. I feed this as 10% to 15% of their daily intake. This was recommended to me by the breeder that I got my birds from.

I mix whole or crimped oats with our scratch feed. The chickens love them!

I just started giving mine the plain 1 minute oats. Cooked and uncooked. They love it, you would think they were starving. I think they were actually trying to like the bowl.

Would this be for layers, and not for younger pullets? I'm wondering if the high protein is suitable for pullets...
