Does anyone have a use for all the loose feathers from their flock?

Any art or craft projects? Sell them? Or anything else?

I picked up some pretty feathers from my pen today and was just thinking that it's a shame that I don't have a use for them since I have such a variety of colors and patterns.

I use feathers in crafts. I save my pretty rooster feathers too but mainly I use our macaw feathers. I sell them for native american art and the tail feathers bring in pretty good money...enough for me to offset the huge amount of food they go through.

I like using feathers in vases and with flowers too.

I put them in the compost pile.

You could always use them to decorate hats a la "Gone With the Wind"

My uncles use turkey feathers for fly fishing, though I could probably foist some nice chicken feathers on them.

Those cone shaped styrofoam things. Take the feathers and stick them in the thing using all one color first, then another, etc. Place them very close together. Use a curling iron to make the tips curl upward. VOILA Christmas Tree.

ETA: You can dye the feathers first if you want, but I prefer the way they look au natural.
