Hi Everyone!!!

So, we're trying to design a stationary coop for our 8 Barred Rock pullets and want to know some tips that can prevent predators from getting in or swooping down from above. ANY tips, including the ones that don't involve stopping predators from getting in the coop, are GREATLY appreciated!!! I'm just looking for ideas...I'd love to see what your coop design is like. Thanks!!!

If you have the potential for weasels and mink, make sure there is on opening an inch wide or larger.
Raccoons are extremely strong and smart so plan for them too.
Cover all large openings/windows with hardware cloth or expanded metal.
Situate the nests, pop doors and roosts in such a way that the hens don't walk under the roost to get to the nests when they come in during the day.

There's tons of good info already written here.

Okay!!! Thanks so much!!!!! Oh, and I'm just curious...why can't the hens walk under the roosts to get to the nests??? Thanks again!!!

They'll track feces into the nests. Most of the feces will be under the roosts from sleep time.
