does anyone in VA have guineas laying now?

I live in southern KY, and my youngsters (guineas hatched last fall--Sept./Oct.) have started laying, the older ones have not.

I'm in SE WV and I *think* mine are laying. They are acting very strange if they aren't.

Three of the four stay in my "free range" pen that's 50X150 and one stays outside the fence, but runs with the others until someone comes near a certain part near the creek. Then she comes running, yelling her fool head off. So I'm guessing they're laying and the one that's staying out of the pen is the guard.

It's a different Guinea hen everyday.

Silly little things.

I live in SW VA, and my guineas (hatchlings from last summer) have yet to start laying. I have 6, so I don't think they're all male, but who knows?

i live in central VA and mine have been laying for a couple of weeks. however, i have some white ones that were not born until oct and they have not started. the ones that are laying were born in june 2009. hope this helps. i am waiting on quail to lay. i bought them and they have been here going on 2 weeks now and still have not given me an egg. this is their second season and that probably factors in too.

Well, mine are making nesting areas so I think they are getting ready, but last year they did lay earlier. And my turkeys just started laying and last year they were hatching poults about this time.
I think because it was a very cold winter that some are getting a late start.
The wattles are different between the boys and girls, I just look at mine and know where the hens and roosters are.
So if you have hens, give them time yet, they went thru an extreme winter.
