Does anyone keep their flock at a property away from their residence?

We would like to have more room for our flock, but love our house and don't really want to move. Has anyone bought a lot for keeping chickens on? If so, any tips for making it work?

Security is an issue from all predators, animal, bird and human. Automatic doors, water and feed would be very helpful, but you still need to have daily interactions.

Neighbors are also an issue, what you are talking, is more of a farm. So a big issue is where are you?

I currently have two separate groups of chickens about 11 miles from home. One group is indoors and another is in a set of pens within a fence within a fence. Logistics get to be a real headache. If an emergency, then I may not even know what is going on for as many as 12 hours. The flock system at home is much easier.

If you do not have the resources, then you do not have the resources. Do not keep what you cannot sustainably take care of.

Thanks for the replies! I don't know how I didn't see them sooner!

I'm in Texas, on the mainland across from Galveston Island. I was thinking of maybe purchasing a rural lot somewhere within a few miles from our home.
