Hello all,
These two sweet birds are living in our Carob tree and roaming our neighborhood. Nobody knows for sure what they are. Does anyone out there know? They seem pretty tame and run up to us when we give them food but won't get too close. They were all over our neighborhood because at least 8 of my neighbors said they were in their yards and had fed them but they live in our tree. Thanks!

They're very cool looking! I don't think they are chickens or turkeys, they look more like some kind of partridge or quail, maybe a young pheasant?

Its nice that you are helping to feed them.

Thanks - yes they are pretty cool looking and sweet. Strange for my neighborhood cause we live in Las Vegas. Our area is county so it is zoned for animals. We have 12 chickens, two dogs, a desert tortoise, cat.

Sounds like an awesome flock of birds you have!

Some one could have tried to raise rare species of partridge or quail, such as exotic species.

Those are ringneck pheasants. I am on my phone right now so I cannot zoom in on the picture, but it looks like a pair (male on left, hen on the right). They are young for sure. Perhaps they are some escapees from a game farm? Around here we used to have wild flocks of ringneck pheasants so occasionally I would find a male around my pen.

You sure Blue Creek? I am not sure if anyone in this area has tried to raise any exotic birds but I wouldn't doubt it here. We have seen some weird things around town so it is possible. Please let me know if after you can get a better look what you think. Thanks!

Thank you guys so much. Now we know. If we can catch them we will deworm before putting with the chickens. Do they fly? Actually would they get along with the others?
