I just love them all! I got as a gift 6 chicks that were about 4 months old from a friend of mine who was reducing her flock. I ended up with 5 hens and 1 rooster. I already had one small rooster named Rocky. We found him on the road by our farm! I think he is a mini because all the other ones tower over him now. I have two that are a beautiful gray blue on top with golden/rust and dark brown feathers toward the back. The other 3 hens and the rooster are golden/rust with dark brown feathers. My mini rooster has long white and black feathering on his neck. They all have feathers on the legs. (I haven't learned how to post the pictures from my hard drive yet) I am new to this forum. BTW I just went out to my coop and saw a new baby that was just born! I have two hens that went broody and are hatching two eggs each!!! I am so excited my hands are shaking!!!!

If you want to email me pics, I'll post them for you- that would help us identify them- I'm ChooksChick at gmail dot com.

You'll be able to post pics after your tenth post.

Having your first chick is really a wonderful thing, isn't it? I was very moved. It's glorious to watch a Mama in action, too.

Glad to have you here!

Thanks I will....I figured out after I posted about the pictures:/

The black and silver boy looks like he has an odd pea comb. I would guess he's Brahma/Cochin cross. The legs are very heavily feathered for a Brahma but the color more of a dark Brahma coloration than a birchen Cochin.

The first two look like lemon blue Cochins???

The black and gold are probably partridge Cochin crosses. The coloration is off for a partridge and their feet aren't very heavily feathered for a Cochin.

Thank you so much for the feed back. The legs are much more feathered now that they are mature. That is very interesting about the rooster. Well it should be an interesting cross...I have two hens who just hatched two chicks each today. Each one of them has a yellow chick and each one has a blackish, brown with a little bit of lighter gold fluff. They look like little marshmellows!!!!
