How can you tell if your hen(s) is/are egg bound?
Symptoms- pale combs and wattles
not acting like herself
walking funny

Cure- Epsom salt bath
Combine about 4-5 inches of warm water into a large container (make sure that the water is oncon the hotter side, but not too hot or the hen won't want to sit in there. Dissolve about 1 cup or a bit more of Epsom salt. Gently put the hen into her nice warm spa treatment :), and let her sit for about 20-25 minutes in the bath. Make sure that there is enough water in there, if not, add some more water. Then put her in a separate coop from the others so she can have some peace and quiet while she recovers. Then, give her a bit of food with a few Tablespoons of water mixed in with a calcium supplement. About 1/4 cup of feed, 2 Tablespoons of water, and 1 teaspoon or so of a calcium supplement. Mix it all together, and let her eat. Then, let her recover. I hope everything goes well with everyone's chicken adventures!!
For a video on how to do this, check it out on YouTube. “Becky's Homestead" channel her newest video called- “How to Fix an Egg Bound Hen." Don't forget to share this post with other people to so that they can help their chickens!!
