does anyone raise button quail?? have a question on a health issue

Hi,

I am posting for a friend. They have button quails. New to it.
THe quails were laying like crazy then all of a sudden stopped.
They are going bauld. Some just down the back, others their whole body.
They are really worried. Could this be mites?
Any help or suggestions would be greatful or they will be bauld pulling their hair out trying to figure out what to do. Thank cj

p.s. do they have any health issues that is breed pacific? Thanks

THEY ARE PECKING EACH OTHERS FEATHERS OUT. THEY ALL DO THAT. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO TAKE SOME FINGERNAIL CLIPPERS AND CLIP THE TOP BEAK BACK A LITTLE. IT WILL GROW BACK SO YOU HAVE TO KEEP IT CLIPPED OR THEY WILL START PECKING AGAIN

Hello my bet is it is from breeding. How many male/females. Button quail can be very nasty to one another they are gamebirds! They should only be housed in pairs.

Thank you very much. I will relay what was said to her. I do know she has them in a colony. That is what was told to her when she bought them. That was the best way is what the breeder said. I guess from what I understand the breeder had all of hers in a colony. They have been fine for about 2 months she said then all of a sudden.. this came on they the laying slowed way down. cj
