I thought I recalled reading somewhere that it's the hen who determines the sex of the chick, not the rooster ( as in some other species.) Can anyone verify this? I have a blue egg layer who has produced out a good percentage of females in two batches and if the hen determines things, I may keep her just for producing hatching eggs.

Thanks, you just gained Spreckles a pardon til next spring! I'm curious if she can keep up her 6 out of 8 ratio. Small sample, I know, but her first hatch was 5 out of 6 and she is a good layer.
