Does it happen to everyone?

I got my hens just over a year ago. They are my babies. Some time after they started to lay I started thinking you know what would be fun? Pigs! But after some serious thought they are to load. I live in a rural area but not that rural. Then I thought ducks, no turkeys, no both. Since my chickens started to lay all I want is a every barnyard animal I can get. Does everyone go farmer crazy? Are chickens the gateway farm animals? Boy if I ever win the Powerball!
