Does metal netting rust?

I'm building a run for my 10 girlies coming in the mail soon from mypetchicken. I was just wondering is it better to go with poultry netting or metal netting. I like to look of metal better, but i dont want it to rust. I'm looking for quality and durability. Also which one is easier to work with. Thanks!

Metal rusts, plastic netting will get holes in it fast. Metal will protect from more predators, both are easy to work with.

By metal netting I assume that you are talking about hardware cloth? I would highly recommend that over poultry netting.

What do you mean by poultry netting? The plastic stuff? That can keep out raptors, but not much else. It would take an animal with teeth maybe 5 mintues to chew through.

Welded wire, sometimes called hardware cloth, is typically galvanized (coated with zinc) to deter rusting. If you buy wire that galvanized before weld, the welding process strips off some of the zinc coating at the weld points, making this kind of wire more susceptible to rusting at the connections. Galvanized after weld wire is better, lasts longer, and usually is more expensive.

thanks so much! so the metal welded with zinc and galvanized seems like the way to go!
