Does my chicken have a cold?

My BO hen is breathing heavy and raspy, and coughing/sneezing. Its getting down to about 35 at night. I give them whole kernel corn, maye its lodged? I dont know what to do, i dont want to lose her, she lays the biggest eggs. Help please!

Do you have a vet near you? She could have one of a number of respiratory infections.
What do you feed her besides whole corn? Is she in a snug area at night? How old is she? Are there other chickens with her? If so, so needs to be moved away from the others......
How long has she been like this?

Does she have any discharge from her nostrils or eyes? Has she laid an egg lately? How does it look?

She was fine, then this morning she just was breathing deep and raspy. I moved her, she looks good, eyes, nostrils and her tail is high. The last egg she layed was yesterday, and it was fine. I let them free range lastnight. I went to check on her, and she streched her neck out like a rooster does when they crow, and made a funny noise. One of the best thing you could do for this bird is to give it electrolytes.

I believe it to be infectious bronchitos (sp) and the best thing is electrolytes.

Brooster, how is your hen?
My Nellie recovered on her own. I kept her in the house for a day by herself. I gave her scrambled eggs and some Layena softened with water. By the next day she was fine and she's been her old feisty self since then. I don't know if she really was sick or just had something stuck in her throat.
I did go buy some Poultry Nutri-drench just to have something on hand for "first aid" until I can get to the feed store for more specific medicine if something like this happens again.

She was getting worse, then we went to the ohio national poultry show, and i found the "Chicken Doctor" He was a great help, and hooked me up with some meds, she has been on them for 3 days, and is already better. I will keep her seperated for 10 days, but she is great, she even layed an egg, and is eating again. I recomend the Chicken doctor to anyone, just visit him at first state vet supply website or call him. I might post that seperate so everyone knows about him.
