I have 7 eggs that I was not ready for lockdown with...first of all I have 3 batches of eggs going on at the same time and 2 bators. The lockdown group was finishing hatch yesterday and the other group ( both chicken eggs ) were still in the regular bator with my 7 duck eggs still getting turned. When I went to turn late Sunday, my ducks were rolling and cheeping. I panicked because at this time I still had 6 chicks in lockdown that were on their way but still working on it. Monday morning, all chickens arrived BUT now 2 of my duck eggs in the other bator have little crack marks and are peeping inside. I quickly cleaned the lockdown incubator and misted the duck eggs and put them in there. This morning...nothing. I hope I didn't kill them because I had to move them from the first bator with little pip marks to the lockdown bator. I did hear a lot of cheeping last nite after the move so I know they were alive at that point but I guess my question is how long from rolling, pipping and cheeping do they usually take to arrive?? They were rescued from my hens nest that left it, that is why I am unsure of actual duedate.

It can take around 24 hours plus after the external crack appears. Not being in lockdown early enough may have effected the moisture in the egg so they may be to dry in the egg to turn to hatch properly- make sure the humidity in the lockdown incubator is around 80%. If you havent sen any progress by the time you read this- you might want to consider spraying the eggs with a misting bottle of warm water.
