This is super interesting! And it confirms what I've thought for a while about the timing of laying. No predictable schedules for my girls, they just make up the time of day according to when i am least likely to be available to collect, so that the egg stay in the box for a maximum amount of time. *sigh*.

I suspect that since your hens are so young, weather won't throw them much. Young red SLs are machines. They'll start wobbling a year from now or so, depending on their line.

Thanks...yes their laying time in very unpredictable...and no the weather or the temperatures do not seem to affect when they lay an egg

I am putting this on hold until I can find where the rest of the pullets are laying I know we have more laying pullets than the eggs we are getting because about a week ago I got one extra egg and the next day I let them out of their coop and run for the first time and I think she found a "better" place to lay and I am pretty sure I have others that are laying because several times a day I hear them singing the egg song...so now I just have to find where they are laying....maybe I should leave them in the coop and run for a couple of days and see if I get any more eggs that way and maybe get them to like the nesting boxes.
