when you introduce a new chicken to your flock do they always get stirred up about it?? Squack alot shun the newbie and chase her around the coop.

Pretty much. A new chicken or chickens have to find their spot in the pecking order. If there's no blood being drawn, let them figure it out. Interferring will only delay a process that has to take place for the flock to get along as a whole.

Man the mother in me wants to give them a good lecture on playing nice with there new friend lol. Won't work huh.

Ya whenever you introduce new birds to your flock there will be conflict it will stop within a week.. nothing to worry about.

Oh man, yes! I once made the mistake of watching my girls figuring it out on the roost in the evening. I had to walk away... they are so MEAN.

I had to go in the house I hate watching it she goes in the coop they go in the run she comes out they chase her. GGGGRRR

I wrote a little bit about that on my website, here: http://www.betterhensandgardens.com/2010/01/18/introducing-new-chickens/

It's
probably pretty conservative, but using this method, by the time they're actually in the pen together, they don't seem to peck much.

Then you probably don't want to see a rooster bringing a new hen under his control huh? It's LOOKS pretty brutal, but it's all normal in a chickens world and we are much more upset by it than the chickens will ever be.

My hens are twice the size of my little rooster Elvis who is the sweatest rooster ever but the hens grab his tail and throw him off. I'm not even getting fertalized eggs but I don't Elvis this he thinks he is the King.
