Does this chick need help?

Just went out to check for new chicks and found this. Is everything ok? I did see some faint veins so I left it alone. Thanks for your help in advance.

Is mum still sitting? If she is try to leave her on the egg longer although the membrane dosnt look too dried out yet exposing it to the air will dry it and the chick will become stuck. If you do feel you need to help please read the above link as jumping in too early can cause more harm than good. As you said you saw veins this means the egg is not ready, catching a vein could cause the chick to bleed out. Hope you find the link usefull and good luck

Just checked - didn't make it. Looks like it had gotten a little more free and mom may have laid on it and tore away the membrane. Poor baby, got this far

I'm afraid these things happen and we can't control nature as much as we would all like to.

Thanks. I did get 4 little survivors They seem to be smaller than the one that died.
