I thought my Roo, Big Daddy, had a dislocated toe but my vet looked at this picture and said he thought was Bumblefoot. It's been like this for almost a year, after he got into a fight with my younger roo, Jin (they live separately now, each having their own hens). I thought it was dislocated because he never showed signs of illness, has a great appetite and gets around well except for balance problems. Big Daddy is 7 years old and I'll be picking up antibiotics for him tomorrow. I am temporarily handicapped and can't pick him up but I can get help crating him and bringing him indoors, for treatment if necessary, but that's not my preference. It's the time of year when he needs to feather out fully for the coming winter so being outside, in the coop, is better for him ...IMO.
Comments welcome - and yes I'm already beating myself up for not taking care of this long ago.
Kind regards to all,
SuzieR2

From the picture it looks like a break or a dislocation that didn't heal right. I've a had a number of cases of bumblefoot but none of them caused the toes to twist like that. There is a condition called curled toe paralysis but it shows up much earlier and it's either genetic or a nutrition problem.
