Does this work???

On Easter Eggers it does work more or less. You can't tell the sex of a day old
Easter Egger but you can on a couple weeks old Easter Egger. Roosters should
have a splotchier color pattern than a hen. On auto-sexing birds like Sex-Links
and Legbars you can tell the difference right from birth. On most breeds you have
to wait until the chicken gets more roo-ish feathers, and that definitely tells you
you've got a roo. On Silkies you have to be an expert or just wait for it to either roo
or lay and egg.
