Does TSC sell common breeds?

We got 6 chicks from Tractor Supply right around 6 weeks ago. 4 bantams and 2 “regular” sized. We were able to point and pick what we wanted even though we had/have no idea what where/are doing. The 2 regular sized we got are the same breed, but the 4 bantams are all different breeds. Does anyone know if TSC sells only certain breeds? I’m not even going to try to figure out the sexing yet. Just trying figure out what needs we have right now. Maybe narrowing it down if TSC only sells a certain set of breeds.

Check with your TSC and ask what they were selling.

Generally TSC sells chicks from Hoovers Hatchery so any and all breeds Hoovers produces including their mixed breeds that have been given fancy names.

If you post pics the keen eyes on here may be able to ID them.

We asked them when we picked them out and they said they couldn’t guarantee the breed or sex. LOL…the girl helping seemed pretty knowledgeable, or at least confident enough to give us that answer.

That’s because TSC is a disaster when it comes to separating their breeds and sexes.

They should at least have a record of what they ordered, so you could probably call and ask what breeds they had that week. You could also ask what hatchery they use, and look on the hatcheries website. TSC almost always uses Hoover’s, but sometimes uses Townline.

Well…so many questions are coming up now. Does anyone know if TSC provides vaccinations on the chicks they sell?

If you check their website it lists all of the chicks they sell with pictures. That is how I figured out my first batch of chicks I got with them years ago. Good luck with your peeps

Vaccinations cost extra. Very rarely a feed store will order vaccinated. TSC is not one of the feed stores that vaccinates.

Yes, TSC sells chicks from Hoover Hatchery. YES, TSC sells "common" breeds. While they can special order groups of 10 of some of the uncommon (but by no means rare) birds offered by Hoover, most of what you see in standard breeds at TSC will be run of the mill.
