Neighbors can be unpredictable as to how they'll react, so if you don't want to have to worry probably best to call and check out the regs on chickens first and hope you get somebody who knows what they're talking about. Like Alman said, some some ordinances aren't even clear on keeping chickens...

You need to check all animal ordinances and zoning code. With zoning code, you need to check the section (usually near the beginning) to see if permitted uses are only uses that are specifically covered in the code, with all other uses not being allowed. This is very typical. In other words, if your code has this statement, for chickens to be allowed, the code must SAY that they are allowed. Silence on them indicates that they are NOT allowed.
