On Monday 11-11-2024, 2 Pit Bulldogs got into my duck yard. they killed 5 ducks right off. 2 ducks got into the pond and kept diving to get away, but, eventually, they were caught. They survived the attack, but one was so badly hurt (his top bill was ripped off) that I had to put him down. That broke my heart. The other one was brought into the house, but she died about 11 pm. The 4 that were left are now in my ad hoc Duck ICU on my kitchen table. I'm attaching a few photos. One of the duck's right wing just hangs down. I have it taped to her body with alligator skin tape.
The most urgent situation I have is that 2 of the ducks are barely eating. The other 2 only want to eat mealworms. I have read some posts and will try the syringe feeding. Could you please give me some guidance on how much to feed and how often? These are Pekin ducks and are rather large. I have been putting them into the bathtub for about 20 minutes in the morning. (I put 2 in at the same time and use this time to clean their large tote and put down fresh bedding.) ANY advice would be welcome, and all questions will be answered.

Welcome to the site, I’m so sorry it’s under these circumstances. I’m so sorry about your ducks, that breaks my heart, too. Let me tag some duck people for help @Miss Lydia @Jenbirdee 911!

Sorry, I don’t really know ducks. But I know wounds a bit. Treatment for shock will help, although they may be out of it by now; electrolytes with sugar water and warm quiet recovery ward. Treat wounds with saline or wound spray and neosporin without pain relief.

Let me try this person, too, I think miss lydia is still recovering from the aftermath of the hurricanes from what I’m reading. @WVduckchick, sorry I really don’t know many duck people here and don’t know anything about them, either.

i bought and used kaytee baby bird food when i tube feed my runner duck . did 30 ml twice a day. i think it was twice a day might have been 3x i’ll check my records. I used tubing from an oxygen system and softened the end with a lighter. hang on i’ll get more links

what do the wounds look like are there any puncture wounds// and do you have any antibiotics like amoxicillin available?
keep wounds moist with antibiotic ointment don’t let them dry out.
clip off any feathers that might get into the wounds and get stuck in there during healing.
poor sweeties I hope they recover.
