I would also wrap up or hide the injury so the other chickens don't peck at it - anything of an off color or unusual to them, they peck it.

Good Job HIker!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah for you and your chicken. I am a dear friend who is nursing 2 back after her dog and a visiting dog got ahold of hers. Their backs were ripped up pretty good, but they have been doing great for almost 2 weeks now. They can survive amazing injuries. Glad your a good keeper.
