I let my guard down and allowed a dog attack. My favorite. A Silver Duck Wing Yokohama. All his tail feathers, and on his back, and under the tail are gone. It is horrible looking, though scratches and bruises are all that show. ( I don't know about internal damage). The first thing I did was to splash a cup full of alcohol on the entire area. After he went to roost I applied Neosporin. He is walking but not crowing.
My question: How should I treat the scrapes on his back? What topical is the best? Don't say " Eat him " . His call is too beautiful to do without and he is the most spectacular looking bird I have ever owned. If I want sunday dinner I will get one of his lackluster flock mates. Thank you if you can help!
