My chicken Lucy was attacked by a little dog that dug under our fence. This was 2 days ago and I have kept her inside in a large nest box. She is drinking and eating and pooing and even layed an egg (about 4 hours after the attack) all my chooks are very friendly and eat out of our hand. I have been bathing her graze on her back with saline solution and this seems to be healing fine. However I am worried about her leg as she wont stand on one of them. I have had a good look and there doesnt seem to be any breaks etc and she doesnt even twinge when I feel everything. I have read about splints but am not 100% sure. I have also spoken to a few Vets but they want to sight, xray, antibotics... (which Im not sure about as we are farming them organically??) She seems happy I have taken her for visits out to the other chooks but arent keen to let her sit in coop for them to peak her. I also gave here rescue remedy after the attack and this seemed to help..and have also been putting arnica in her water...

She is still probably traumatized, poor dear. The dog could have hurt a muscle in her leg, or she might have strained her leg struggling. Keep her separated from the rest of the flock even if it is just a fence that separates them and see what happens....I hope that is helpful.:)
