Hi, last year my pekin duck was attacked by a fox and was left with to deep bite marks about an inch and a half wide and an inch deep. I was afraid it would not heal, but I gave her antibiotics, pain and inflammation medication and cleaned the wounds with salt water and put pet wound gel on it twice a day. She healed just fine and has had no problems since. I would recommend keeping your hen away from others so she can heal.

Yes it will heal. Triple antibiotic ointment twice a day after rinsing it with sterile saline solution or a wound cleanser like Hibiclens will do it. Is she eating, drinking, pooping okay? Be sure the ointment does NOT contain pain reliever, it's toxic to chickens.

Good to hear, mines about a half inch deep. She's in the house, eating, pooping and drinking is ok

If anything like this happens again (hope it doesn't!), treat first for shock. Shock often kills even when the injury is not life-threatening. Make up a batch of sugar water or give the bird electrolytes, and keep the bird in a dark, quiet place for a while. Sugar water formula is 1 tsp sugar, a pinch of salt and a pinch of baking soda in a cup of warm water. Use measuring spoon and measuring cup.

Thank you. We thought we lost her, she has no tail feathers left, we actually found her the next day hiding. She's comfortable in the house
