Dog breed info needed

I hope you really want the dog and will keep it whether the dog "gets it" or not.

Going to 2nd what Joan said...you DO want a dog you can take proper care of and will treat it well and play with it, get shots, health care, etc? Also get it neutered or spayed? Dogs are pack animals and really don't like being outside all the time, they also love human interaction each day too.

I have suffered from severe allergies all of my life, I have been on medication to control it and have now had asthma induced allergies. I have 4 horses, my chicken flock and an aged Siberian Husky who sleeps with us some of the night and will jump on the bed in the morning to say hello. I really hate to see people who say they have such severe allergies get living, breathing, feeling animals, only to throw them outside to live in loneliness because they don't want to work around their medical condition and deal with it and take proper care of said animal.

I think there are dogs that stay outside and are perfectly happy. There are life stock guardian dogs that are born in the barn and live among the sheep their whole lives and are fine. But they still have to have companionship and care. It's not like sticking a dog out in the back yard and only going out there to feed it once a day. Now that's heartbreaking to see.

I think my Brittany would be happy outside if she had another dog to stay with her. Problem is, I don't like my dogs outside, I want them in the house with me.

LGD breeds do well because they have been selected for many many generations to not rely on humans. The dogs are independent thinkers and very different than most other breeds in that regard.
Other breeds, especially herding breeds and some hunting breeds, have been carefully selected to work one-on-one with humans. That is why they don't do well left alone outside. On the other hand, if you are a person who spends the majority of your waking hours outside (farmers or hunters for example) and your dog works with you, then they have no problem with sleeping outside at nights.
