My Aussie boy has a really high respiration rate -- he was sleeping and I counted 85 breaths per minute. I've read that the normal resp. rate for a resting dog is 10-34 bpm. Any idea why he's doing this? It's not hot here today -- somewhere in the 60s.

He's almost 1 -- his birthday is the 26th.

Thing is, he wasn't doing a lot of exercise stuff beforehand...

He does it quite often, and he wasn't dreaming, because he kept doing it when he woke up a few times.

I think I would take him to the vet - and get him checked out. I am guessing you have him on Heart Worm Med's? Is he coughing when he excerises?

Did he have any issues of any kind when he was a pup?

A boy I my class last year had 100 beats per min.! I thought I would just like to share that with you.
