i was given an old dog kennel and decided to use it to house chickens. It is placed inside a fenced in area so hopefully most predators will be kept away. I would like some suggestions on enclosing the kennel to further protect from predators and weather. I’ve attached a picture of the kennel from a webpage. The opening of the wire is 2x4. (We do have a barrier around the bottom of the pen.)
Thanks

Will there be a coop too?
Kennel will need a roof of mesh at least.
2x4 will keep most things out, other than smaller coons, rodents, weasels, snakes, etc.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.

It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

We're working with a similar deal here.

We plan to put 12' 2x4 across the kennel top, create a raised portion on one end to direct rain/snow off, and eventually add metal roofing panels. I believe the Mister intends to even make a 2x4 "frame" over the kennel so that the roof weight will not be on the kennel itself.

We are going a bit fancier by attaching it all to the outside of the shed, which houses our coop. The chickens will get to go in and out the shed window so they'll stop pooping up my shed floor (other half of our shed is for goats.)

My kennel is chain link. Currently houses my ducks, who like to run away if not penned. First night we had them a fox managed to get one hen through the fence. I think she was swimming in the corner pool, panicked, got a body part too close/through chain link, fox was able to grab. Wasn't pretty :'(
I still have not finished my plans to secure predators from digging under the kennel, but I went and bought the expensive galvanized steel 1/2" hole by 24" height fencing roll. Cut to the lengths of each kennel side and temporarily (because the whole kennel is in progress process) zip tied it to the chain link.

The kennel is the coop
There is a roof already, my brother in law got bored during spring break visit and added it for me!
I am located in central Florida. We have foxes, opossums, raccoons,( although I’ve not seen one on my property, just the opossums my dogs have killed) coyotes and of course hawks, and other birds of prey.
I’m considering shade cloth for the sides, hoping to keep out wind driven rain, but still have air flow
