Dog killed half my flock. Now what?

RoostTimeRumble,

LOL :gig
That's so true! They seem to get pretty fussy when its time for bed.
I got some 2x4's and am going to add some/replace the existing small one. I originally got the small one when they were chicks. They all preferred to snuggle together on the bigger, higher one.
I'll keep an eye out during bedtime and if need be, I'll build an add-on to that coop so it is bigger. The original 5 seemed really happy, but we will have to see how it goes with the new additions.

Unfortunately, it looks like Sophia has a respiratory infection of some kind. I may make another thread on it.
Her breathing is congested, her nose is runny and her eyes are watery. She's also lethargic and just want's to stand/lay there. I think she is still eating and drinking, though.
Thinking about trying to exchange her. I'm not sure what is customary since I got her three days ago. I'm also wondering how likely it is that Blanche, and possibly even the others have contracted it at this point.

Exchanging would be moot, as infection probably came from that flock...and all the birds have been exposed already.

Wow, I had no idea respiratory disease was such a serious problem. Based on some advice I got in my other thread, it's looking like the best course of action is going to be to cull her, and not get another bird from the same lady.
I'm actually thinking about just keeping four birds now, instead of five. Initially I didn't want to introduce a single bird, thinking they'd get picked on...but I'm pretty sure Blanche can handle herself lol...I guess I'm going to need to quarantine her for quite some time to be safe, though.
