Dogs and chickens!?

Will any rooster regardless big or small fight a dog to protect its hens!? Or will it run away aswell?

Depends on the Roo - it could go either way - flight or fight

from West Virginia! My Buff Orpington roo tries to attack our 2 dogs through the fencing. He does not like them! It's funny to see him running along side the fence with his neck feathers out trying to get them. I have 4 other roos and they don't seem to care one way or the other. So I'd second BrendaJ's post and say it depends on the roo. You could also post your question in the Chicken Behaviors and Egglaying section. Not everyone looks under New Member Introductions so you may get more information on that section. I'd say too, it would depend on the dog. If the dog was aggressive to the roo..Our dogs aren't, Nosey just plain doesn't like the dogs! Then again, there isn't much he DOES like...except corn and tomatoes...

There is only so much a rooster can do I wouldn't count on him defending his flock,
